Batticaloa Lagoon

Batticaloa Lagoon is one of Sri Lanka's largest and most picturesque lagoons, stretching for more than 50 kilometres along the island's eastern coastline. Surrounded by mangrove forests, fishing villages and peaceful waterways, the lagoon is an ecological treasure and an important part of the region's cultural identity.

The lagoon is internationally known for the mysterious phenomenon of the 'Singing Fish.'
