Lipton's Seat

Lipton's Seat is one of Sri Lanka's most iconic viewpoints and a symbol of the country's rich tea heritage. Located near Haputale in the Uva Highlands, this famous lookout stands at an elevation of approximately 1,970 metres and was once the favourite viewpoint of Scottish tea pioneer Sir Thomas Lipton.

From this remarkable vantage point, Sir Thomas Lipton would survey thousands of acres of tea plantations that formed part of his world-famous tea empire. Today, visitors can stand at the very same location and enjoy spectacular panoramic views across emerald-green tea estates, mist-covered mountains and distant valleys stretching toward Sri Lanka's southern coastline.

The winding road leading to Lipton's Seat passes through picturesque tea plantations where workers continue the centuries-old tradition of hand-picking tea leaves.
