Lipton's Seat

Perched high above the rolling tea plantations of Haputale, Lipton's Seat is one of Sri Lanka's most famous viewpoints. Named after the legendary Scottish tea pioneer Sir Thomas Lipton, this scenic lookout offers spectacular panoramic views across lush tea estates, mountain ranges and valleys stretching across several provinces on clear days.

Standing at an elevation of approximately 1,970 metres above sea level, Lipton's Seat was Sir Thomas Lipton's favourite place to survey his world-renowned tea plantations. Today, visitors follow the same route through picturesque estates to experience one of the island's most iconic landscapes.

The journey to the summit is as memorable as the destination itself. Winding roads pass through beautifully maintained tea gardens where workers continue the centuries-old tradition of hand-picking tea leaves.
